On Sunday, November 28, we notice that Sophie was not eating normally. I went to see the Nutcracker with my family, so Jeramy had the kids. We just thought it was because she had not had a bottle all week since we were off for Thanksgiving and was used to being with me.
On Monday, November 29, we went to school as normal and I took Ethan and Sophie to Kenwick. I started Sophie on her bottles with breast milk and 1oz of formula. When I picked her up, her teachers said that she would barely drink her bottles and was a little fussy.
On Tuesday, November 30, Sophie was the same at school. It was taking her an hour to eat an oz. So I decided to leave work early and take her to see the doctor. The doctor told me that there was nothing wrong with her and that she probably does not like the mixture of breast milk and formula. The doctor wanted me to do just breast milk to see if she would go back to eating normal.
On Wednesday, December 1, Sophie had just breast milk; however, she was still not eating and getting fussier. So I decided to take her back to the doctor. This time we saw a different doctor and he said that she has a red throat and she probably is getting a cold.
On Thursday, December 2, I decided to take off and stay home with her. She was about the same. She ran a low grade fever and was not nursing as good as she normal does. She was starting to look sick in her eyes, and not acting like herself.
On Friday, December 3, my mom stayed with Sophie. My mom called me and told me that she is refusing to eat and was really fussy. She could tell that Sophie was in pain and did not feel good. So I called the doctor and scheduled another appointment.
When we saw the doctor he said her throat was red. I told him that it is not like her not to eat or nurse. He did three test, blood, strep, and urine. The urine test came back positive for a UTI infection. So he gave her a shot of antibiotic and an antibiotic for 10 days.
On Saturday, Sophie appeared to be doing better, but then Sunday she regressed. We were worried about her becoming dehydrated.
On Monday, my sister in law watched her. I spoke to her in the morning and Sophie was refusing to eat. She had little wet diapers and was extremely fussy. So I called the doctor again. He told me to take her to Texas Children's Hospital.......

Two Months
Can you believe that our baby girl is TWO MONTHS!? I took her to the doctor September 13 and she now weights 10lbs 4oz and 22 in long. She is growing beauitfully with her dark hair and big blue eyes. And I noticed that her eyelashes are growning long, which is what every girl wants.
She is really showing her little personality. She is recognizing our faces and really trying to talk to us with her soft little voice. She is adjusting to school life with all the other babies.
Sophie loves BATH time, even though Ethan always joins her, she is so relaxed during this time. After she takes a bath I do a baby message with lotion and she coos and talks to me in her sweet voice.
Happy Times for my little Sophie and Mommy.
OnE Month
Sophie is now one month old and she is just perfect. She is a really good baby. All she does is eats, sleeps, and poos and pees. She wakes at night to eat then goes back to sleep. She is starting to stay awake a little more during the day. She is smiling and cooing, which is so cute. She is getting chubbier, double chin and fatty theighs, which are so cute. She still has brown hair and hopefully it stays that way. Her eyes are still big and blue.
At one mth she is already spoiled by us. We are so happy to have her in our life.
First Day Back!!! :(
Monday, Septembe 16 was my first day back to school and it was so hard to leave the kids. I woke up at 5:00 a.m. to be ready before Sophie woke up to nurse. She woke up around 6, so I got her dressed and starting nursing her. As I was nursing the tears just started to fall. Just the thought of having to leave her at just 5 weeks was so upsetting.
I had to wake Ethan up and he wanted to go back to sleep, so he was upset also. Jeramy took Dylan to his friends house. I had tears all the way to Kenwick and when we arrived at Kenwick, Ethan starting telling me that he was so upset and that he wanted his dad.
When we walked into Kenwick we were all crying, me because I did not want to leave Ethan and Sophie, Ethan because he wanted to stay at home, and Sophie because she hates her car seat.

Sophie and her BiG Brothers!
Dylan and Ethan were thrilled to meet their baby sister. They have been so good with her. They can not wait to bring her home. Ethan tells her that he loves her every 5 minutes and sits right next to Sophie and I when he visits. Dylan wants to hold her and make sure she is ok.

Sophie is very lucky to have such sweet brothers. I know that she will be well taken care of with them two around.
The BiG DaY! Sophie is HeRe
Sophie finally graced us with her presents early Monday morning at 12:50 AM. Long story short, I started having contractions early Sunday morning at 4 AM, of course they were not consistent enough to send me to the hospital. So we went to eat lunch at my moms and went to our neice, Karlee's birthday party at Putt-Putt Fun House in the afternoon.
I was having contractions off and on all day, not feeling good, but I did not want to stay at home in bed. Finally around 5:30 the contractions started coming every 10 minutes, and by the time we got home around 6:30, the contractions were 6-7 minutes apart.
If you know me, I had false labor with Ethan and been having false labor with Sophie, so I did not call the doctor and kept on doing stuff around the house just in case it was the real thing. Finally, my family convinced me to go to the hospital.
When I arrived I was in pain and the contractions were getting closer together. I was 100% effaced and dilated to 5cm. This was around 8:00. So of course it was the real thing and they did not send me home. I dilated really fast and by the time I got my epiduarl, I was dilated between 6 and 7. After I got my epidural, it was not to long before I was 9 cm, and then the pushing began. I pushed for 2hrs before Sophie was born.
We thought the pushing part would go by really fast, since it did with Ethan and Sophie is my 3rd baby, but it did not. She was facing to the side instead of face down, so it took longer. But it was probably a good thing so I did not develop another hematoma.
The boys were really excited to finally meet their Little Sister. They did really good waiting at the hospital for her to be delivered. They both had the biggest smile on their face. Ethan kept asking if we could take her home with us and all Dylan wanted to do was hold her.

Our first family picture with Sophie!

Dylan is the best big brother ever! I can already tell that he is going to spoil his little sister and watch over her like a hawk! Boys you better watch out!

Jeramy is just thrilled to be a daddy of a baby girl! Hope he knows how much his life is about to change! Lots of PINK!

She had the cord wrapped around her neck when she was delievered and was casper white with dark drown hair. Yeah! Dark hair just like her Mommy. She looked just like her big brother Ethan, but not as loud as him.

Dr. Davis was awesome through my entire delivery. She stayed after to make sure I was going to be ok and not develop another hematoma. Thanks, Dr. Davis for taking care of me and Sophie!

Before-n-After Sophie's Room
Here are some before and after pictures of Sophie's room. This was Ethan's room.
Jeramy painted this on the wall before he started painting.
Of course Big Brother, Ethan had to help paint his sister's room. He was telling me that he was painting his best friend Addison from school, Dylan, Daddy, Me, and my best friends, Ms. Kelli, and Mrs. Burke.
I know I probably should not have been painting but I could not resist. I had to HELP!
Ethan playing with the blue painting tape and eating a Popsicle. He loves to be a HELPER!
Sophie's room is finally complete
Sophie's garment bag with her Little Sister outfit. I made the door hanger for the hospital and to hang her bows on.
I told Jeramy maybe now that Sophie's room is complete that maybe she will finally come into our world!

Some Gifts for Sophie
We have received some wonderful gifts from family and friends for Sophie! Thanks everybody for your love, support, and gifts for our daughter!
Sophie's infant car seat and stroller. Of course Ethan had to check it out and make sure it was safe before she arrives.
He put his horse, Phillip inside to take a nap.
Sophie's Bedding
My wonderful MOM is making Sophie's bedding. We were going to do Zebra Pint and Pink, but when we went to High Fashion Fabric we found this fabric instead, Paisley Print and Black and White Poke-A-Dots. The top part is soft fleece and the back is made out of satin. She also made the bed skirt, curtains, and a diaper stacker to match. It is going to look awesome in her PINK room.
Sophie Update!!! 8mths
I can't imagine being any bigger, especially since it is so HOT outside. Hopefully Sophie will be here within the next week. I will keep our family blog updated and of course we will text or call everybody when I go to the hospital.
Please keep us in your prayers each night. I had a easy time delivering Ethan, but afterwards I had major complications. Dr. Davis said not to worry and that I will be fine, but it is always scary.
